Chandigarh, July 3, 2026: The Chandigarh Administration and security agencies have begun preparations for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's proposed visit to the city on July 17, although the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) is yet to give its final approval to the programme.
Officials have started compiling a list of major development projects that could be inaugurated or dedicated to the public during the visit. The proposed list will soon be sent to the PMO, following which the Prime Minister's schedule is expected to be finalised.
According to sources, the Prime Minister's main public event is likely to be held at Panjab University in Sector 14.
During the proposed visit, Prime Minister Modi is also expected to inaugurate two key healthcare facilities at the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh—the Advanced Neurosciences Centre and the Mother and Child Health Centre.
Officials said preparations are being carried out in anticipation of the visit, while the final itinerary will depend on confirmation from the PMO.
