Ranchi, August 3, 2026 (ANI): Student leader Devendra Nath Mahato sat on an indefinite hunger strike at Jaipal Singh Munda Stadium in protest against irregularities in competitive exams.
He said, "The results of the 14th Preliminary Test (PT) were declared on the 2nd of last month, exactly a month ago today, marking the start of this controversy. We launched this agitation on July 5th, met the Governor on July 7th, and staged an effigy-burning protest on July 8th. We met the Chief Minister on July 20th and submitted evidence, which triggered official action. As the investigation into the JPSC proceeded, major revelations came to light... We even organized a 'Constitution March' on the fifth day of our 'Satyagraha'. However, the demands outlined in the memorandum we submitted have not yet been fully met... The current attitude of both the Jharkhand government and the Commission is demoralizing students across the state... To uphold the students' morale and escalate this struggle, I am giving up food starting today, and embarking on a hunger strike... Our primary objective is to secure the cancellation of the 14th PT examination and an investigation into all exams conducted by the TDPL agency..."
Meanwhile Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) has extended its support to the student leader.
