PAU-KVK Ferozepur organises 5-Day training camp on soap and household cleaning products
Ferozepur, August 4, 2026: With the objective of encouraging youth and rural women to take up self-employment and entrepreneurship, the PAU-Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Ferozepur organised a five-day vocational training camp on the preparation of soaps and household cleaning products.
The training programme was conducted under the guidance of Dr. Gurmell Singh Sandhu, Deputy Director, KVK Ferozepur. Addressing the participants, Dr. Sandhu said that small-scale home-based industries could provide a valuable source of income for youth and rural women. He said the consistent demand for soaps and cleaning products made their manufacturing a viable business that could be started with relatively low investment. He encouraged the trainees to focus on quality products and adopt self-employment to become financially self-reliant.
Dr. Divya Jain, Assistant Professor (Home Science), provided hands-on training in the preparation of herbal and traditional soaps, handwash, dishwashing liquid, liquid detergent for clothes, phenyl and other household cleaning products. She also explained the selection of raw materials, quality control, packaging, labelling, pricing and marketing of products.
Sawan Deep Sharma, Project Director, ATMA, Ferozepur, briefed the trainees about company registration, trademarks, brand registration, licensing and other legal procedures. He also encouraged them to establish successful enterprises through effective branding and marketing of their products.
During the training, Dr. Harpreet Singh of Preet Aarogya brand and Mohammad Dilshad of Sultan Bee Farm brand participated as expert resource persons. They shared their practical experience in making herbal and handmade soaps using Ayurvedic methods and natural ingredients, besides providing guidance on product quality, packaging, branding and marketing.
At the conclusion of the training, participants were encouraged to form self-help groups and avail themselves of government schemes to establish small-scale enterprises. The trainees showed keen interest in the practical sessions and expressed their willingness to adopt soap and cleaning-product manufacturing as a means of income generation and self-employment.
