‘HARR BOOTH, CONGRESS MAZBOOT’: BAGHEL, WARRING assert Congress will return to power in Punjab
Ferozepur, August 4, 2026: AICC General Secretary in-charge of Punjab Bhupesh Baghel on Tuesday asserted that only the Congress could provide stability, security and a strong government in Punjab, expressing confidence that people of the state were ready to vote out the Aam Aadmi Party government in the next Assembly elections.
Addressing the party’s ‘Harr Booth, Congress Mazboot’ programme in Ferozepur, Baghel said his tour of ten districts had convinced him that the Congress was regaining ground across Punjab. He urged party workers to rise above minor differences and work collectively in the larger interest of the state and the party.
Baghel alleged that the AAP government had pushed Punjab towards “lawlessness and anarchy”, claiming that people no longer felt safe amid the activities of gangsters and rising ransom demands. He also accused the government of allowing sand, land and mining mafias to flourish in the state.
Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring said his biggest political dream now was to see a Congress Chief Minister take oath after the next Assembly elections. Recalling his long association with the party, Warring said he had received everything from the Congress and would remain a Congressman throughout his life.
Taking a swipe at former Congress leader and BJP minister Ravneet Singh Bittu, Warring said those who had deserted the Congress after receiving opportunities from the party had lost their political relevance.
Warring also issued a strong warning to those allegedly working as “sleeper cells” within the Congress for the benefit of rival parties, making it clear that such individuals would not be given party tickets. He said ticket distribution would ultimately be decided by the party high command, but loyalty to the Congress would remain “non-negotiable”.
Criticising Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and the AAP government, Warring alleged that Punjab had been pushed deeper into drugs and debt. He questioned the government’s claims of attracting foreign investment, saying Punjabi youth were being forced to sell land to move abroad and were subsequently facing deportation in humiliating circumstances.
Among those present at the programme were Ravi Dalvi, Hina Kawre, Sukhminder Danny, Kulbeer Zeera, Parminder Singh Pinky and other party leaders and workers.
