GRP conducts security check at Ferozepur Cantt railway station ahead of Independence Day
Ferozepur, August 13, 2026: Ahead of the 80th Independence Day celebrations, the Government Railway Police (GRP) conducted a security checking operation at Ferozepur Cantt railway station on Thursday as part of heightened security arrangements.
DSP Jaskaran Singh, Zonal GRP Ferozepur, along with tNaveen Kumar, Station House Officer of GRP Ferozepur, carried out the checking at the railway station. The security exercise focused on ensuring the safety and security of passengers and railway premises ahead of the national celebrations.
The checking forms part of the precautionary security measures being undertaken across Ferozepur ahead of Independence Day, particularly in view of the visit of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann to the district for the state-level Independence Day function.
Police officials said the overall situation in Ferozepur remained peaceful. Security arrangements have been strengthened at key public places and sensitive locations as part of the preparations for the celebrations.
Earlier, DGP Punjab Gaurav Yadav had also reviewed the law-and-order situation with senior police officers from Ferozepur, Faridkot, Bathinda and Fazilka districts ahead of the Independence Day event.
The GRP checking at the railway station is aimed at maintaining a secure environment for passengers and ensuring smooth movement of people during the festive period.
