Chandigarh, August 15, 2026: Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) president Simranjit Singh Mann was detained by Chandigarh Police on Saturday while he was attempting to reach the Punjab Raj Bhavan. Mann was seen with bandages on his head, raising questions about when and where he sustained the injuries.
According to information gathered by Babushahi Network, Mann had reportedly reached a residence near Raj Bhavan a day earlier and stayed there overnight. As direct access towards Raj Bhavan was likely to be restricted amid heightened security, he allegedly adopted a different approach to reach the area.
Mann reportedly disguised himself and appeared injured, with bandages on his head, in an apparent attempt to pass through the security arrangements without being identified. He managed to reach a barricade near Raj Bhavan before security personnel became suspicious and detained him.
He was subsequently taken to a police station.
Babushahi Network said it contacted Mann’s office, which confirmed the details regarding his presence near Raj Bhavan and his subsequent detention. The circumstances surrounding his injuries and the use of the disguise remain central to the incident.
