CHANDIGARH, August 14: On the eve of the 80th Independence Day, the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, has announced the names of Punjab Police officers and officials selected for the prestigious President’s Medal for Distinguished Service (PSM) and Medal for Meritorious Service (MSM).
Inspector Baljit Singh, Incharge CIA Barnala, has been selected for the President’s Medal for Distinguished Service (PSM) in recognition of his outstanding and distinguished service.
Meanwhile, 11 Punjab Police officers and officials have been selected for the Medal for Meritorious Service (MSM). The list includes two IPS officers—IGP Intelligence (Admin) Babu Lal Meena and IGP Provisioning Dr. S. Boopathi—along with six PPS officers: SP PBI Sangrur Navreet Singh Virk, DSP Headquarters Sangrur Karnail Singh, DSP Security Subhash Chand, DSP CID Unit Amritsar Sanjeev Kumar, ACP North Amritsar Gagandeep Singh, and DSP Jahan Khelan Jasvir Singh.
The other awardees include Inspector Rashpal Singh, Inspector Nirmal Singh and ASI Nirmal Singh.

He further emphasised that such commitment is particularly significant for Punjab, a border state facing multifaceted security challenges, where the police force continues to play a vital role in maintaining peace, security and public order.
