CGC University Mohali celebrates 80th Independence Day with patriotic fervour

Mohali (Punjab), August 17, 2026: CGC University Mohali celebrated India’s 80th Independence Day with patriotic spirit and enthusiasm, bringing together students, faculty and staff to commemorate the nation’s journey and reaffirm their commitment to building a progressive and developed India.
The celebrations were attended by Major General Ajay Sood (Retd.) as the chief guest. The programme began with the ceremonial hoisting of the national flag, followed by the national anthem, creating an atmosphere of pride and patriotism among the university community.
A parade by the university’s NCC cadets was also held as part of the celebrations. Marching in formation with discipline and precision, the cadets showcased the values of courage, dedication and service associated with responsible citizenship.
Addressing the gathering, Arsh Dhaliwal, Managing Director, CGC University Mohali, encouraged students to recognise their role in shaping the country’s future. He urged them to contribute meaningfully to nation-building through their knowledge, skills and sense of responsibility.
Rachpal Singh Dhaliwal, Chancellor, CGC University Mohali, called upon students to pursue knowledge, uphold integrity and develop a spirit of innovation. He encouraged the young generation to contribute towards the vision of a ‘Viksit Bharat’ through their efforts and achievements.
He said that Independence Day should not be viewed only as a celebration of a historic achievement but also as a reminder of the responsibilities that come with freedom. He emphasised the role of young people in transforming opportunities into meaningful progress for the country.
The celebrations concluded on a patriotic note, with the university community reaffirming its commitment to the values of freedom, unity, service and national development.
