Vigilance Bureau arrests 1,138 accused in 1,091 registered cases

Chandigarh, August 19, 2026: In line with the Punjab Government’s zero-tolerance policy towards corruption, the Vigilance Bureau registered a total of 1,091 cases and arrested 1,138 accused between March 16, 2022, and July 31, 2026.
During the same period, 298 vigilance enquiries were registered, while competent courts convicted 242 accused in 150 corruption cases.
Disclosing this here today, an official spokesperson for the Punjab Vigilance Bureau said that 630 accused were arrested in 523 trap cases during the period. Similarly, 492 accused were arrested in 536 criminal cases, while 16 persons were arrested in 32 disproportionate assets cases.
The spokesperson further informed that 117 vigilance enquiries were registered in connection with disproportionate assets cases, while 181 other vigilance enquiries were also registered during the period.
