Food Safety Dept inspects mid-day meal at Govt Primary School; holds awareness camp
Ferozepur, August 19, 2026: The Food Safety Department conducted an inspection of the mid-day meal at Government Primary School (GPS), village Ale Wala, Ferozepur, and organised a food safety and health awareness camp for the students.
During the programme, students were educated about the importance of consuming clean, nutritious and safe food. They were advised to avoid excessive consumption of fast food and junk food, including energy drinks, cold drinks, chips, burgers, noodles and other processed food items, which can have adverse effects on health. The children were encouraged to prefer fresh and nutritious home-cooked food as much as possible.
Abhinav Khosla, Food Safety Officer also highlighted the importance of the mid-day meal scheme being provided in government schools, stating that nutritious food plays an important role in ensuring the physical and mental development of children and keeping them healthy.
Students were further sensitised about basic food safety and hygiene practices, including washing hands before eating, drinking clean water, keeping food covered and developing healthy eating habits.
He also advised the school authorities and staff to strictly maintain cleanliness, hygiene and food safety standards while preparing and serving the mid-day meal.
The department appealed to parents, teachers and the community to encourage children to stay away from excessive junk and fast food and develop healthy eating habits. “A healthy child is the foundation of a healthy society,” the FSO emphasised.
