Cockroach Janta Party Raises Concern Over Centre’s Commitments to Youth; National Working Committee to Meet on August 24
CJP Says Promises on FIRs Against Students and Protesters, NEET Victims’ Compensation Must Be Honoured

New Delhi, August 24, 2026: The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) has expressed serious concern over what it described as the Union Government’s failure to honour commitments made to the youth of India, particularly regarding the withdrawal or quashing of FIRs registered against students and protesters and compensation for the families of deceased NEET victims.
In a statement, the CJP said the commitments were made in the context of the nationwide agitation led by the party and subsequent developments, but the government had yet to provide the promised written assurance.
The party said that during the hearing before the Supreme Court on August 18, the Court had sought from the Union Government, on three separate occasions, a consolidated list of FIRs registered against students and protesters across the country so that it could exercise its extraordinary powers under Article 142 of the Constitution to enable the commitments made to be fulfilled.
According to the CJP, despite repeated requests for the list, the Union Government did not commit to providing it. The party further said that after the Supreme Court hearing, the Cabinet Secretary, CJP Co-Convenor Saurav Das and Legal Affairs Secretary had raised concerns that the government appeared to be attempting to secure the withdrawal of the agitation on the basis of commitments made during a joint press conference.
The CJP said the commitments made to it were unambiguous and included withdrawal or quashing of all FIRs arising out of the protests and a guarantee that no student or peaceful protester would face punitive action in the future.
“Any attempt to now dilute, delay, reinterpret or dishonour these commitments would constitute an unacceptable breach of trust,” the party said.
The party also expressed concern that the government delegation involved in discussions with the CJP had not formally reached out to place on record the steps being taken to provide the promised written assurance. This, it said, also included commitments concerning fair compensation for the families of deceased NEET victims.
CJP National Working Committee to Meet on August 24
Against this backdrop, the National Working Committee of the Cockroach Janta Party will meet on August 24 to assess the situation and decide the party’s next course of action, according to the statement.
The CJP said that all measures necessary to secure fulfilment of the government's commitments would be considered, including the possibility of another round of peaceful nationwide agitation, if required.
The party stressed that its decision to call off the earlier agitation was taken in good faith and that this should not be mistaken for weakness.
“The good faith of the youth of India must not be mistaken for weakness,” the party said, while maintaining that every commitment made to the country's youth must be honoured.
The CJP also said that its protests had resulted in the resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan, but added that it would not rest until each and every commitment made to the youth was fulfilled.
The party appealed to students, young citizens, supporters and CJP volunteers across the country to remain prepared for the next course of action following the August 24 meeting.
