PU Students Polls Counting: ABVP’s Ankit Bidhan leads

Chandigarh, August 31, 2026: The latest round of counting in the Punjab University student elections has put ABVP presidential candidate Ankit Bidhan in a strong position, as he leads ASAP candidate Aadil Brar by 556 votes after counting at the University Institute of Engineering and Technology (UIET), the 59th department.
Bidhan has secured 2,879 votes, while Aadil Brar has received 2,323 votes. NSUI candidate Gurman Singh Sidhu is in third position with 2,034 votes, followed by SATH candidate Darshpreet Singh with 1,208 votes.
Dhyan Singh Leads General Secretary Race
In the General Secretary contest, Independent candidate Dhyan Singh is leading with 2,939 votes.
NSUI candidate Aryan Saharan has polled 2,470 votes, while Muskan has received 1,089 votes. A total of 456 votes have been recorded for NOTA.
Bhinder Leads Vice-President Contest
In the Vice-President race, following counting at the Law Department, Bhinder is ahead with 1,532 votes, while Akanksha has secured 1,280 votes.
Bhinder currently holds a lead of 252 votes.
Vishal Bamal Ahead for Joint Secretary
For the Joint Secretary post, Vishal Bamal is leading with 1,623 votes.
HSA candidate has received 1,435 votes, while Ram Chander has polled 991 votes and Ameen has received 708 votes. NOTA has recorded 469 votes.
