Bathinda is bustling with activity as the city prepares to host the much-anticipated Khedan Watan Punjab Diyan-2026. The grand sporting event is set to be inaugurated by Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann at the iconic Shaheed Bhagat Singh Stadium on September 5.
The event promises to be a spectacle, with participants from all 23 districts of Punjab coming together to showcase their talents. The opening ceremony will feature a grand March Past, with teams representing each district, highlighting the unity and competitive spirit of the state.
A notable aspect of this year's event is the inclusion of athletes below the age of 16 and those above 60 years, emphasizing the inclusive nature of the games. This initiative aims to encourage participation across all age groups, fostering a love for sports among the young and old alike.
Sports Department Secretary Varun Roojam, who recently reviewed the preparations, emphasized the importance of meticulous planning and execution. He directed officials to ensure that all arrangements are completed on time, leaving no room for laxity. "The success of this event depends on our collective efforts," Roojam stated, underscoring the significance of the event for Punjab.
Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Dhiman assured that preparations have been underway for several days and will be finalized by the evening of September 4. "We are committed to ensuring a smooth and memorable event," Dhiman added.
Adding a touch of entertainment to the sporting extravaganza, renowned Punjabi singers Gurdas Maan and Kulwinder Billa are set to enthral the audience with their performances. Their presence is expected to draw large crowds, adding to the festive atmosphere of the event.
The review meeting was attended by key officials, including Additional Deputy Commissioner Kanchan, Assistant Commissioner Gurjinder Singh, Sub-Divisional Magistrate Amandeep Singh Mavi, SP Headquarters Jagdish Bishnoi, and District Sports Officer Rupinder Singh. Their collective efforts aim to ensure that Khedan Watan Punjab Diyan-2026 is a resounding success.
