LTSU Celebrates Janmashtami with Vibrant "Matki Phod" Competition

Nawanshahr, September 5, 2026- Lamrin Tech Skills University Punjab (LTSU) celebrated the auspicious festival of Janmashtami with great zeal, devotion and enthusiasm, organising a vibrant Matki Phod Competition that brought together students, faculty and staff in a spirited celebration of India’s rich cultural heritage.
The celebration was organised by the Kaleidoscope Cultural Club (USET) in association with CREST, with the active support of the LTSU Management. The event reflected the university’s commitment to providing students with opportunities to celebrate cultural traditions while fostering teamwork, leadership, discipline and sportsmanship.
The programme was graced by LTSU Chancellor Mr. Nirmal Singh Rayat, in the presence of Dr. A.S. Chawla, Vice Chancellor; Dr. B.S. Satyal, Pro Vice Chancellor; Mr. Vimal Manhotra, Chief Executive Officer; Dr. H.P.S. Dhami, Executive Dean; Ms. Meenakshi Sharma, HoD, and Deans of various Schools.
Extending his heartfelt greetings to the students, faculty and staff, Chancellor Mr. Nirmal Singh Rayat said, “Janmashtami teaches us the timeless values of truth, courage and duty as exemplified by Lord Krishna. I am delighted to see our students celebrating our cultural heritage with such enthusiasm, teamwork and sportsmanship through Matki Phod. Such festivals unite us and instil values that go beyond classrooms.”
The Matki Phod Competition witnessed enthusiastic participation, with four teams competing with determination, coordination and sporting spirit.
Shaurya Sena and Life Saviours emerge victorious
In the Boys’ Category, Shaurya Sena, led by Shivam Kumar, emerged victorious, winning the Winner’s Trophy along with a cash prize of ₹5,000. Govind Sena, led by Vishwa Pratap Rana, secured the Runner-up position and was awarded a cash prize of ₹1,100.
In the Girls’ Category, Life Saviours, led by Sneha, clinched the top position, taking home the Winner’s Trophy and a cash prize of ₹4,000. Team Radhe, led by Bhavika, finished as Runner-up and received a cash prize of ₹1,100.
Adding colour, devotion and cultural vibrancy to the celebrations were a series of captivating cultural performances. Energetic dance performances by Ishrat, Ankita and Deepika Yadav enthralled the audience, while Vaasu’s soulful singing added a melodious touch to the festivities.
The highlight of the cultural programme was a captivating Krishna Leela presentation by Kaveri and her team, which beautifully portrayed the divine life and teachings of Lord Krishna and brought alive the devotional and cultural essence of Janmashtami.
The celebrations concluded amid an atmosphere of joy, devotion and camaraderie, leaving students and faculty with cherished memories. The event not only celebrated the birth of Lord Krishna but also reinforced the message that India’s cultural traditions, when celebrated collectively, inspire unity, creativity, teamwork and a strong sense of belonging among the younger generation.
