Haryana approves Rs 9,700 crore bypass projects in Hisar, Kurukshetra, Narnaul, Jind and Sohna-Palwal
Chandigarh, September 13, 2026 (ANI): Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has approved a series of ring road and bypass projects in major cities and towns to ease traffic congestion and improve connectivity, with projects in Hisar, Kurukshetra, Narnaul, Jind and Sohna-Palwal estimated to cost around ₹9,700 crore.
Saini approved the projects while chairing a meeting at the Secretariat on the financial model for the state’s contribution under a master plan aimed at reducing congestion in urban areas along National Highways.
The Chief Minister directed officials to formulate a policy for developing outer ring roads and National Highways under the master plan in line with the Central Government’s policy framework.
A three-member committee comprising officials from the Finance Department, Public Works Department and Urban Local Bodies Department was also constituted to work out issues related to the state’s contribution under the cost-sharing arrangement with the Centre.
Among the projects approved is the Hisar Bypass, which will connect Hisar-Rajgarh Road (NH-52) with Hisar-Delhi Road and Hisar-Kaithal Road.
The Kurukshetra-Ladwa Bypass has already received a Detailed Project Report (DPR), and work on the project is expected to begin soon.
The Narnaul City Bypass, measuring nearly 11 km, will be connected to NH-148B. In Jind, an outer ring road and a four-lane bypass on NH-352 will be developed.
The Sohna-Palwal Bypass from NH-919 will be upgraded, redesigned and constructed as a four-lane road over approximately 24 km.
The Chief Minister also announced plans to develop greenfield connectivity linking the DND-Faridabad-Ballabhgarh Bypass-KMP link and the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway with Jewar International Airport.
Saini said the state’s land share for the Karnal Ring Road has been deposited. The ring road connecting Ambala City and Ambala Cantonment is also under construction and will be completed at the earliest.
The meeting also approved the construction of a railway under-bridge on Civil Station Road in Sirsa on the Rewari-Bathinda railway line.
Additional works were also approved for several link roads, including those connecting Kanina-Mahendragarh Road to Anawas, Dhani Rajawas School to Balana, Khatod to Budin, Nimbhera and Balecha, Mahendragarh-Bucholi Road, and Nangwas to Ateli.
