20 NCC girl cadets complete 250-km high-altitude trek from Himachal to Ladakh

The All India Girls High Altitude Long Trek ‘Aparajita – Parang La 2026’, a flagship adventure activity of the National Cadet Corps (NCC), was flagged in at Karzok, Ladakh, on Wednesday by DG NCC Lt Gen Virendra Vats and Additional Secretary, Ministry of Defence, Smt Dipti Mohil Chawla.
The 30-day expedition saw 20 NCC girl cadets selected from across the country cover approximately 250 kilometres from Kibber in Himachal Pradesh to Karzok in Ladakh, crossing the 5,578-metre Parang La Pass, which connects the Spiti Valley of Himachal Pradesh with the Changthang region of Ladakh.
The challenging route took the cadets through high-altitude terrain, including glaciers, snowfields and river valleys. The team was accompanied by NCC officers, instructors, medical staff and other support personnel throughout the expedition.
The trek was flagged off from New Delhi by Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh on August 18, 2026.
Speaking at the flag-in ceremony, Lt Gen Virendra Vats congratulated the cadets and staff on successfully completing the expedition. He said such activities help develop leadership, self-confidence, teamwork and endurance among young people.
The expedition was organised to encourage the participation of young women in adventure activities and provide them with exposure to challenging high-altitude conditions. It also aimed to promote national integration by bringing together NCC cadets from different parts of the country.
