SBSSU VC Dr Suresh Kumar Sharma leads two-day workshop on 'Mastering SPSS Workshop at DSCW
Ferozepur, September 26, 2026: A two-day workshop on “Mastering SPSS: The Complete Journey from Foundation to Advanced Analytics” was organised at Dev Samaj College for Women, Ferozepur, on September 25–26, 2026, under the DST-CURIE Grant.
The workshop was aimed at enhancing the research, data analysis and statistical skills of students and faculty members. Dr. Suresh Kumar Sharma, Vice Chancellor, Shaheed Bhagat Singh State University, Ferozepur, was the resource person.
College Principal Dr. Sangeeta formally welcomed Dr. Sharma and presented him a planter and a memento as a mark of respect. Addressing the participants, Dr. Sharma highlighted the importance of SPSS - Statistical Package for the Social Sciences - in academic research and data-based analysis.
During the first day, Dr. Sharma provided practical insights into the basic concepts of SPSS and advanced analytical techniques. The sessions covered statistical analysis, research methodologies, interpretation of data and various aspects of advanced analytics. Participants were also given hands-on training in using statistical tools for data analysis.
The second day focused on practical aspects including data entry and management, preparation of variables, classification of data, preparation of tables and graphs, application of statistical tests and interpretation of results. Participants were given hands-on computer-based training, enabling them to understand and use various SPSS tools effectively.
Through interactive sessions and practical examples, the participants were guided on organising research data, extracting meaningful results and presenting findings in a scientific manner. The concluding question-and-answer session provided an opportunity for participants to clarify their queries related to SPSS and data analysis.
The participants described the workshop as informative, practical and useful for research work. They said that the programme provided valuable knowledge not only about the theoretical aspects of SPSS but also its practical application.
Certificates were distributed among the participants at the conclusion of the workshop. The college management and Principal Dr. Sangeeta congratulated the faculty members and all those associated with the successful organisation of the programme.
