Sangrur (Punjab), October 28, 2026: Garbage clearance has begun at sites across Sangrur following residents’ complaints about accumulated waste and deteriorating sanitation conditions, with the Municipal Council’s Executive Officer Anmol Rattan personally visiting garbage sites along with council staff to review the progress of the work.
The development comes after Babushahi News highlighted a representation submitted by Jasinder Sekhon on behalf of residents to Punjab Chief Secretary KAP Sinha, seeking urgent intervention to address the city’s sanitation problems.
According to the update received, garbage removal is now underway, and residents have expressed gratitude to Babushahi News for highlighting the issue.
During his visit, Executive Officer Anmol Rattan enquired about the status of garbage clearance at the identified sites. The visit comes amid concerns over waste accumulation along roads, near public institutions and on vacant plots in the city.
In its earlier report, “Garbage Piles in CM Mann’s Home City Sangrur: Residents Seek Urgent Action from Punjab Govt,” Babushahi News highlighted concerns raised in the representation about garbage dumps, blocked drains, sewage problems and the absence of a permanent solid-waste processing facility.

The representation had flagged locations near Ranbir Club, Government Ranbir College, Banasar Bagh and the Civil Hospital, while calling for immediate sanitation measures and a coordinated response from the concerned authorities.
The commencement of garbage clearance marks a development following the issue being brought to public attention. However, residents had also sought a permanent waste-management solution, effective door-to-door collection and segregation, and measures to prevent garbage from accumulating again.
Sustained action by the Municipal Council and other concerned departments will be crucial to ensuring that the improvement extends across the city and that the sanitation concerns raised by residents are addressed in the long term.
