Three Children die within hours in Ferozepur Village; Health team collects food, milk samples
Ferozepur, November 1, 2026: The mysterious deaths of three minor girls, including two infants, from two families within a few hours in Mohrewala village have raised concerns over a possible common cause, prompting police investigation and health authorities to collect food, milk and water samples for examination about the possibility of food contamination or poisoning.
Meanwhile, the deaths have cast a pall of gloom over Mohrewala village, with residents awaiting the medical and chemical examination reports to ascertain what led to the sudden deaths of the three children.
The deceased have been identified as seven-year-old Khushnaseeb, her 11-month-old half-sister Gurveer, and six-month-old Manpreet Kaur from a neighbouring household.
According to preliminary information, Khushnaseeb and Gurveer reportedly developed sudden uneasiness during the early hours of Saturday after consuming eatables purchased from a local shop. Their condition deteriorated rapidly, with the children reportedly developing frothing at the mouth. The family rushed them to hospital, where they were declared dead.
In the other case, six-month-old Manpreet Kaur reportedly fell ill shortly after being fed milk by her mother. Her condition deteriorated rapidly and she developed frothing at the mouth. She died before she could be taken to hospital.
The fact that the three children developed similar severe symptoms and died within a short span has raised questions over a possible common cause. However, officials have not yet established whether the deaths were linked to contaminated food, milk, water or any other substance.
A health department team visited the village and collected samples of drinking water, milk and food items from the affected households for chemical examination. The samples have been sent for testing, while the bodies have been kept at Ferozepur Civil Hospital for post-mortem examination.
Senior Medical Officer Dr Nikhil Gupta said the exact cause of death could be established only after the post-mortem and laboratory reports are received.
DSP Karan Sharma said the Mamdot police had initiated a detailed investigation and were examining all possible angles. Statements of family members and other persons concerned were also being recorded.
