Day 1 of CU Fest 2025 lights up Chandigarh University with over 2,000 students showcasing talent across 32 events

Mohali (Punjab), April 21, 2025: Scintillating artistic, cultural performances and thrilling competitions by students marked the first day of the ‘CU Fest 2025 - Annual Cultural Fest’ of Chandigarh University at its campus on Monday. More than 2,000 students participated in 32 competitions in six different categories including Fine Arts, Theatre, Literary, Modelling, Music and Dance.
Mamta Rani Agarwal, Advisor-I in AICTE is former Additional Secretary, Association of Indian Universities (AIU) was the Chief Guest on the occasion who inaugurated ‘CU Fest-2025’.

The Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) and Chancellor Chandigarh University, Satnam Singh Sandhu and Professor Manpreet Singh Manna, Vice Chancellor, Chandigarh University among other dignitaries were also present on the occasions.
Mamta Rani Agarwal, the chief guest on the occasion said, “There are very few universities in the country that venture beyond academics and promote sporting talent, cultural and artistic activities among their students.

Chandigarh University is one such university that has been working for the holistic development of its students by giving wings to not just academic dreams but their artistic dreams as well.
Chandigarh University has become the national champion thrice in AIU organized Inter-University National Youth Festival and won MAKA Trophy (1st private university to receive the honour) in sports.CU has also produced many national-level artists and sportspersons over the years.
The university’s performance in sports and cultural activities speaks volume about the visionary leaders of CU and their relentless pursuit to achieve new milestones beyond academic excellence in sports and cultural activities.”
The fest started with captivating western and classical dance performances (solo, duet and group) by the students that mesmerized one and all present at the occasion. Later, eclectic performances such as Music, Mime, Mono Acting, Skit, Solo Singing, Rangoli, Clay Modelling, On the Spot Painting, On the Spot Photography, Modelling, General Group Dance, Speech Competition, Quiz, Mimicry, Street Play, DJ Hunt, Western Vocal (Solo), Best Out of Waste, Collage Making and Debate competitions stole the show.

Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) and Chancellor Chandigarh University, Satnam Singh Sandhu said, “The milestones achieved by Chandigarh University are not merely restricted to its academic excellence, but they transcend beyond it. The marvelous feats achieved by the students in artistic and cultural competitions over the years are true testament to the Chandigarh University’s resolute commitment to not only encourage art but also provide platform for budding artists and bring out the hidden talent of students. Recently, Chandigarh University has won the Overall Championship Trophy at the 38th Inter University National Youth Festival-2024-25 organized by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) by winning 41 medals in 28 competitions which featured over 2400 students from 148 universities across India.”
“The platforms such as CU Fest encourage students to not only showcase their talent with their artistic performances but also encourage and inspire other students to do the same.
The ethos nurtured here at Chandigarh University over the years focuses on holistic development of its students. With students coming to study from all Indian states and UTs, Chandigarh University fosters multiculturism and takes care of the aspirations of students from different communities of the nation equally.

On the second day of CU Fest 2025, the students will showcase their talent and deliver artistic performances in competitions such as Duet Dance, Solo Dance, Folk Dance (Solo), Debate, Indian Group Song, Western Group Song, Cartooning, Mehndi, Face Painting, Poster Making, Special Act - One Act Play, Debate and Battle of Bands.
Moreover, as many as 60 students who brought laurels to Chandigarh University with their emphatic performances at national and international level competitions in theatre, literary, fine arts, modeling, music, and dance, were felicitated with ‘Artist Achievement Awards 2025’ and Rs 10 lakh cash prizes.
On the second day of the fest, the main attraction of the event will be a live musical concert by popular Bollywood playback singer Jubin Nautiyal. The department that received the most awards this year will be awarded the overall trophy.
