In a vibrant celebration of Hindi Diwas, T.S. Central State Library, Chandigarh, took a significant step in promoting the Hindi language and its cultural richness among young learners. The event was held at Government Model Senior Secondary School, Village Sarangpur, Chandigarh, with an aim to instill a love for Hindi, encourage reading habits, and revive the traditional art of storytelling.
Dr. Neeza Singh, the librarian at T.S. Central State Library, engaged with the students, emphasizing the role of Hindi as a powerful medium that connects people and preserves India's diverse cultural heritage.
She spoke passionately about the importance of developing reading habits in children and encouraged them to make libraries an integral part of their lives. According to Dr. Singh, libraries are gateways to knowledge, imagination, and lifelong learning.
A highlight of the event was a special storytelling session organized by the Library using Kavad, a traditional Rajasthani storytelling method. Mr. Subhasis Neogi from Puppet Theatre led this engaging session, introducing children to the unique art of storytelling through the beautifully crafted Kavad.
This interactive session generated immense enthusiasm among the students, offering them a chance to experience India's rich oral storytelling traditions in an innovative way.
The celebration also provided a platform for students to showcase their talent and passion for the Hindi language. Many students enthusiastically recited poems and narrated stories in Hindi, adding vibrancy and meaning to the program.
To further encourage reading and appreciation of literature, participating students were awarded book prizes. This initiative was warmly received by both students and teachers, underscoring the importance of literature in education. Mrs. Veena Kumari, Principal of the school, expressed her gratitude towards T.S. Central State Library for organizing such an enriching and engaging program for the students.
