Chandigarh, June 8, 2026: Continuing the Punjab Government’s employment drive, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Monday handed over appointment letters to 355 newly recruited candidates, taking the total number of government jobs provided since 2022 to 67,037.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said all appointments have been made purely on the basis of merit, transparency and fair competition, without political recommendations, bribery or favouritism.
Highlighting the state’s recruitment record, Mann said Punjab has not witnessed a single examination paper leak since 2022, contrasting it with incidents reported elsewhere in the country. He noted that while several major recruitment and entrance examinations have faced controversies nationally, Punjab has maintained a transparent and credible recruitment process.

The newly recruited candidates have been appointed in various departments, including Technical Education, Cooperation, Local Government, Water Supply and Sanitation, Animal Husbandry, Public Works, and Housing and Urban Development.
Mann said the government is committed to creating opportunities that encourage youth to build their future in Punjab. He claimed that signs of reverse migration are emerging, with young Punjabis returning from abroad to explore opportunities in the state.
The Chief Minister also announced a major policy initiative for around 65,000 contractual employees, stating that the government is working towards providing them a pathway to regularisation and ending the contractor-based employment system in government departments.
Emphasising skill development, Mann said 25 new Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) are being established across Punjab, while 13 existing ITIs are being upgraded. He added that the government has also invested in the modernisation of polytechnic colleges and launched internship programmes aimed at improving employability among students.
Congratulating the newly appointed employees, Mann urged them to serve the public with honesty and dedication, stating that government jobs are the rightful entitlement of deserving candidates and not political favours.
Several newly recruited candidates praised the recruitment process, describing it as transparent, merit-based and free from political interference.
Cabinet Ministers Harjot Singh Bains and Gurmeet Singh Khudian, along with other dignitaries, were present on the occasion.
