Three-Day Bank Strike Deferred; UFBU Defers Agitation and Strike Action

New Delhi, September 27, 2026: The proposed three-day bank strike has been deferred after the United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) reached an understanding with the Indian Banks’ Association (IBA) on key issues.
According to a circular issued by UFBU on September 27, a meeting between IBA and UFBU was held at 9:30 pm, following which it was agreed to:
- Form a high-level IBA-UFBU committee to discuss the issue of declaring the remaining Saturdays as holidays and explore an acceptable solution.
- Initiate discussions on modifications to the PLI Scheme for Scale IV and above officers.
- Discuss the remaining issues listed in the minutes dated March 8, 2024, for early resolution.
- In view of these developments, UFBU has agreed to defer the proposed agitation programmes and strike action.
