Chandigarh, October 3, 2026: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has suspended its Maur MLA, Sukhveer Singh Maiserkhana, from the party’s primary membership with immediate effect, citing alleged “anti-party activities and indiscipline.”
The suspension order was issued by AAP Punjab State General Secretary Harchand Singh Barsat and addressed to Maiserkhana.
The letter states that it had come to the party’s notice that the MLA was allegedly involved in anti-party activities and indiscipline. It does not specify the particular actions on the basis of which the suspension was ordered.
The development comes hours after Maiserkhana publicly raised concerns over teacher shortages and the condition of government schools in his constituency during a Facebook Live. He also alleged that his repeated grievances had not been addressed and said he had been unable to secure a meeting with Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.
During the live session, Maiserkhana also said he was prepared to continue raising issues concerning his constituency and remarked, “If you want to cut my ticket, then cut it.”
The MLA’s remarks had triggered a political reaction, with opposition leaders targeting the AAP government over his allegations concerning the functioning of government schools and the party leadership.
Maiserkhana was elected from the Maur Assembly constituency in the 2022 Punjab Assembly elections on an AAP ticket.
The suspension order does not state whether any further disciplinary action will be taken against the MLA.
