ADC visits stubble-burning hotspots, urges farmers to avoid burning paddy straw
Ferozepur, October 3, 2026: The Ferozepur district administration is making concerted efforts to prevent incidents of paddy stubble burning and create awareness among farmers about scientific and effective stubble management.
Following the directions of Deputy Commissioner Deepashikha Sharma, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) Krishna Pal Rajput, IAS Under Training Himanshu, Chief Agriculture Officer Balwinder Singh, Agriculture Officer Neeraj Sharma and Gurdeep Singh, along with other officials and employees of the Agriculture Department, visited stubble-burning hotspot villages, including Kareke, Machhiwara, Peer Ismail Khan, Bagge Wala and Mallanwala.
During the visit, the officials reviewed the situation regarding stubble-burning incidents in the villages and interacted with farmers, urging them not to burn paddy straw. The farmers were informed that stubble burning causes air pollution and adversely affects soil fertility.
The officials encouraged farmers to use available agricultural machinery, including Super Seeder, Happy Seeder, Mulcher and other farm implements, for effective management of paddy residue. They also urged farmers to avail themselves of the facilities and support being provided by the government for scientific stubble management.
They said that continuous monitoring was being carried out at the village level to prevent stubble-burning incidents and that a special awareness campaign was being conducted among farmers. They stressed that proper management of paddy residue was essential for protecting the environment and maintaining soil fertility.
The district administration appealed to all farmers to refrain from burning stubble and contribute towards keeping the environment clean and pollution-free.
