Withdraw FIRs against Ludhiana industrialists, demands Anil Sareen

Ludhiana (Punjab), October 3, 2026: Punjab BJP State General Secretary Anil Sareen on Friday demanded immediate withdrawal of the FIRs registered against industrialists and traders who protested against prolonged power cuts in Ludhiana.
Sareen alleged that around 250 industrialists and traders were booked after they staged a protest over extended power outages affecting industrial operations.
Reports have also confirmed that police registered a case against Punjab Dyers Association president Bobby Jindal and around 250 unidentified persons in connection with the September 14 protest near Vardhman Chowk, where traffic was disrupted.
Speaking to reporters, Sareen said industrialists had been facing power cuts lasting several hours, resulting in losses to production and business. He demanded that the cases be withdrawn and that uninterrupted power supply be ensured to the industrial sector.
Sareen also criticised the Aam Aadmi Party government over the power situation and alleged that the government was suppressing the concerns of industrialists and traders instead of addressing their grievances.
He said the Punjab BJP stood with the industrial and business community and would oppose any alleged harassment of traders. He also claimed that prolonged power disruptions and government policies were contributing to the migration of industry from Punjab.
BJP Ludhiana president, Dyeing Association leader and BJP district treasurer Bobby Jindal, district general secretaries Senu Chugh and Kailash Chaudhary, along with Mahesh and Satish, were present during the interaction.
The issue follows protests by Ludhiana industrialists over power curtailment. Earlier, the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) had imposed a five-hour night power curtailment on industrial areas, citing a shortage of power caused by outages at generating units.
