Bathinda, August 8, 2026:
Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) stepped up its direct engagement with electricity consumers as it organised a Stakeholder Consultation-cum-Grievance Redressal Meeting at the Lake View Guest House, Bathinda, drawing participation from consumers, industrialists, commercial establishments, representatives of industrial associations, farmers’ organisations and members of the general public.
The grievance redressal camp received an encouraging response, with stakeholders from Bathinda city and surrounding areas putting forward a range of issues, complaints and suggestions related to electricity supply and consumer services.
The meeting provided a common platform for consumers to interact directly with senior PSPCL officials and place their concerns before the authorities. The initiative was aimed at ensuring faster redressal of grievances, identifying ground-level problems and strengthening communication between PSPCL and its consumers.
Inderpal Singh listens to stakeholders
Director (Distribution), PSPCL, Inderpal Singh, who led the Bathinda camp, personally heard the grievances and suggestions of stakeholders. He interacted with consumers and representatives from different sectors and sought first-hand information about the difficulties being faced at the ground level.
Addressing the gathering, Inderpal Singh said such consultations were extremely useful for understanding the actual situation faced by consumers and enabling PSPCL to take appropriate decisions for resolving their problems.
“Stakeholder meetings provide first-hand information about ground realities. Direct interaction with consumers helps PSPCL understand their concerns better and take appropriate decisions for early resolution of grievances.”
He said regular consultations with consumers would help strengthen the relationship between the power utility and the people it serves, while also improving the efficiency and responsiveness of consumer services.
Industry welcomes PSPCL initiative
President of Bathinda Industries Association, Ram Parkash Jindal, welcomed the initiative and termed the consultation an important step towards improving coordination between PSPCL and electricity consumers.
He said such meetings were beneficial because they provided consumers, particularly industrial and commercial users, an opportunity to place their concerns directly before senior officials instead of relying solely on routine complaint mechanisms.
“Such stakeholder meetings are highly beneficial as they help ensure prompt redressal of complaints, highlight ground-level issues and strengthen direct engagement between PSPCL and its consumers.”
He appreciated the manner in which the grievances were heard by the senior officials and expressed hope that the issues raised during the meeting would be followed up on a priority basis.
Consumers get direct access to senior officials
The participation of consumers from Bathinda and adjoining areas added significance to the camp, as stakeholders were able to raise issues directly with the officials responsible for distribution and field-level operations.
The consultation also provided PSPCL officials with an opportunity to receive feedback on the functioning of electricity services, identify recurring problems and understand the difficulties faced by different categories of consumers.
The strong response to the camp underlined the importance of direct dialogue between the power utility and consumers, particularly in a region with a substantial industrial, commercial and agricultural consumer base.
Senior PSPCL officials participate
Several senior officers were present during the consultation and interacted with the stakeholders. These included CE PSPCL Harparveen Singh Bindra, SE PSPCL Bathinda Harish Gothwal, SE Sri Muktsar Sahib Babul Lal, XEN Sandeep Garg and XEN Sahil Gupta, besides other officers and officials.
The presence of senior field officers enabled consumers to raise their concerns before the appropriate authorities and receive clarification on issues within the jurisdiction of PSPCL.
Focus on faster grievance redressal
The Bathinda consultation reflected PSPCL's efforts to move beyond conventional grievance mechanisms by creating a platform where consumers can directly communicate their problems and suggestions to senior management.
The successful response to the meeting has also highlighted the demand for more such consultations at the field level, where consumer grievances can be assessed directly and appropriate corrective measures initiated.
The initiative is expected to further strengthen consumer confidence, transparency and accountability in electricity distribution services, while providing PSPCL with valuable feedback for improving its functioning.
The Bathinda camp thus emerged as a significant interface between PSPCL and its consumers, with direct dialogue, quick grievance redressal and ground-level feedback remaining at the heart of the exercise.
