Sacramento (US), March 7, 2025 – Prominent Sikh leaders in the United States have strongly condemned the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) for removing Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Raghveer Singh and Takht Keshgarh Sahib Jathedar Giani Sultan Singh.
In a joint statement, Sajjan Singh, chief of Gurdwara Santsar Sahib, and Sikh leader Narinder Singh Hundal called the decision "unwise and unacceptable" to Sikhs worldwide. They urged the SGPC to reconsider its decision, emphasizing that Sikhs in America and across the globe stand united against this move.
The controversy has sparked widespread outrage, with Sikh communities abroad vowing to oppose any action undermining the Akal Takht's sanctity.
