Renowned bodybuilder and actor Varinder Ghuman, known globally as the world’s first vegetarian professional bodybuilder, passed away on Wednesday following a cardiac arrest.
According to sources, Ghuman suffered a massive heart attack in Amritsar and died in Fortis Hospital Amritsar.
Hailing from Gurdaspur, Punjab, Varinder Ghuman earned international recognition for his exceptional physique and his commitment to promoting vegetarianism in the world of bodybuilding—a field traditionally dominated by non-vegetarian diets.
Ghuman had also appeared in several Punjabi films and brand endorsements, and was admired for his discipline, fitness philosophy, and humble persona.
His untimely demise has shocked fans and the fitness community across India and abroad. Tributes have been pouring in from athletes, actors, and admirers who remembered him as a trailblazer who redefined the limits of strength and lifestyle choices.
Punjab Cabinet Minister Mohinder Bhagat and World fame wrestler Khali condoled the sudden and untimely demise of Ghuman.
