Seven-Day Civil Defence Training and Capacity Building Workshop launched in Ferozepur
Ferozepur, January 7, 2026: A seven-day Civil Defence training camp commenced on Wednesday at the CV Raman Hall of Shaheed Bhagat Singh University, Ferozepur. The workshop, titled “Training and Capacity Building of Civil Defence”, will provide continuous training to Civil Defence volunteers over the next seven days.
The inaugural session witnessed enthusiastic participation from volunteers. IAS officer Ms. Lindia, Civil Defence Controller, attended the event as the chief guest, while Divisional Commandant Home Guards Anil Puruthi was present as the special guest. District Commandant Home Guards Gurlavdeep Singh welcomed the dignitaries and highlighted the importance of Civil Defence. He informed that experts from Civil Defence, the Health Department, Fire Services and NDRF would impart training during the camp.
Addressing the gathering, Ms. Lindia said that the people of Punjab possess a strong spirit of service. She lauded the commendable role played by Civil Defence wardens during Operation Sindoor, emphasizing that every citizen should acquire basic Civil Defence training to effectively respond during emergencies.
Divisional Commandant Anil Puruthi described Civil Defence volunteers as the “eyes and ears of the nation,” noting their crucial role during disasters as well as in maintaining vigilance against suspicious activities. He also cautioned volunteers against the negative impact of social media.
Chief Warden Civil Defence Ferozepur Parminder Singh Thind recalled the organisation’s contributions during the Kargil War, the Parliament attack aftermath, Operation Sindoor in 2025, and recent flood relief operations.
Several senior Civil Defence and Home Guards officials were present on the occasion.
