Mohali (Punjab), February 2, 2026: The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup - 2026 Trophy Tour continued its inspiring nationwide journey on Monday with a visit to Chandigarh University, celebrating the journey of India’s ace left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh, who is currently pursuing his studies at the university.
The Chandigarh University campus came alive as students welcomed the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup trophy with a ceremonial guard of honour, followed by a vibrant atmosphere of celebration and engagement. CU students enthusiastically participated in interactive games and challenges alongside ‘Blaze and Tonk’, the official tournament mascots.

The visit reinforced the idea that the trophy represents more than global success, it stands as a symbol of possibility, belief and ambition for young aspirants who see reflections of their own dreams in the journeys of players like Arshdeep Singh.
The visit marked another significant chapter of the ‘Class of 26’ initiative, an ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 storytelling and fan-engagement campaign conducted as part of the Trophy Tour with DP World, which celebrates the early journeys of current Indian World Cup squad members by reconnecting the iconic trophy with the institutions where their cricketing dreams were first nurtured, with the aim of inspiring students across the country.
Speaking on the occasion, Deepinder Singh Sandhu, Senior Managing Director, Chandigarh University said, “It indeed is a proud moment for us that we got to host the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 Trophy. I extend my best wishes to the team India for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 and am confident the squad has all the potential to defend the title on home soil. Arshdeep Singh’s journey is a shining example of discipline, humility and relentless hard work and he stands as a true role model for aspiring cricketers across the country. Apart from Arshdeep Singh, India’s premier left-arm wrist-spinner Kuldeep Yadav is also student of Chandigarh University Lucknow. Chandigarh University has consistently positioned itself as a platform that celebrates, engages and draws inspiration from Indian sporting excellence at the highest international level. The journeys of distinguished Indian cricketers such as Arshdeep Singh and Kuldeep Yadav, who have represented India on the global stage with distinction, exemplify the values of discipline, perseverance, resilience, and commitment that Chandigarh University seeks to instill in its students. Chandigarh University’s strong alignment with sports development and nurturing of budding sportsmen to transform them into national and international sportspersons is clearly reflected in the sporting achievements over the years.”

The visit to Chandigarh University was part of a broader nationwide Trophy Tour that has already taken the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup trophy to the former educational institutions of several Indian stars including Hardik Pandya in Vadodara, Ishan Kishan in Patna, Washington Sundar in Chennai, Varun Chakaravarthy in Chennai, Harshit Rana in Delhi, Jasprit Bumrah in Ahmedabad, Axar Patel in Nadiad, Rinku Singh in Aligarh, Kuldeep Yadav in Kanpur and now Arshdeep Singh in Chandigarh. The tour will continue with a visit to Abhishek Sharma’s alma mater in Amritsar on Tuesday.
The endeavor honors the formative years of these players, from school grounds and college nets to the world stage, acknowledging the years of discipline, sacrifice and persistence that define an international career. By allowing students to celebrate and engage with the trophy, the tour builds excitement and anticipation for the global tournament while reinforcing the belief that every great journey begins with a dream. The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 is scheduled to take place from February 7 to March 8 across venues in India and Sri Lanka.
