Income Tax Department organises seminar on new Income Tax Act and TDS/TCS provisions

Amritsar (Punjab) February 5, 2026:The Income Tax Department, TDS Charge, Amritsar, organised an outreach seminar on the New Income Tax Act, 2025, along with the latest TDS/TCS provisions and compliance requirements at Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU), Amritsar.
The seminar was addressed by Bhupinder Singh, IRS, Joint Commissioner of Income Tax, Range–TDS, Ludhiana, and Vikas Kumar, Income Tax Officer, TDS Charge, Amritsar. The speakers briefed participants on the salient features of the New Income Tax Act, recent amendments, newly introduced TDS/TCS sections, procedural aspects, and statutory compliance requirements.
The outreach programme aimed at creating awareness among Drawing and Disbursing Officers (DDOs) and other stakeholders to ensure accuracy in tax procedures, minimise discrepancies, and promote timely compliance in tax deduction and collection. The officers also highlighted the consequences of non-compliance and defaults under TDS/TCS provisions.
An interactive session was held during the seminar, providing participants an opportunity to seek clarifications and interact directly with the officials. Addressing the gathering, Sh. Bhupinder Singh stated that the primary objective of the seminar was to strengthen the capacity of stakeholders by equipping them with comprehensive knowledge of the new TDS and TCS provisions, in line with the ‘Capacity Building of Stakeholders’ initiative of the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), New Delhi.
