Canadian University Professor Dr Kenneth B. Kent leads Digital Agriculture workshop at PAU

Ludhiana (Punjab), February 6, 2026: The Alumni Association of the College of Agricultural Engineering and Technology, in collaboration with the Department of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology, organised a workshop on “Digital Agriculture: AI, Research Publishing and Entrepreneurship” at Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), Ludhiana.
The workshop featured Dr Kenneth B. Kent, Professor, Faculty of Computer Science, University of New Brunswick (UNB), Canada, who was on a two-day visit to the university.
Dr Kent currently serves as Barrett Chair in Entrepreneurship for Digital Transformation, Director of the IBM Centre for Advanced Studies–Atlantic, UNB, and is also an Honorary Professor at Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences, Germany.
Around 50 postgraduate students and faculty members of the college participated in the workshop. Dr Kent delivered expert sessions on AI-driven Digital Twin applications for biogas plant simulation, monitoring and optimisation, research publishing strategies, and entrepreneurship through intellectual property and commercialisation. The participants actively engaged in discussions across the sessions.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Manjeet Singh, Dean, College of Agricultural Engineering and Technology, said that artificial intelligence and digital innovations in agriculture are the need of the hour and encouraged students and faculty to focus their research on these emerging areas. He also shared that Dr Harpreet Kaur recently completed her PhD under the supervision of Dr Kent at UNB, Brunswick.
Dr Preetinder Kaur, President of the Alumni Association, highlighted the growing relevance of technologies such as Artificial Intelligence and Digital Twins in modelling physical systems and stressed the importance of research publishing and entrepreneurship for both personal and professional development of students.
The workshop concluded with the distribution of certificates to participants and appreciation of Dr Kent for his dedicated efforts in making the event a success. Dr Harpreet Kaur conducted the session and proposed a vote of thanks.
