DSCW hosts national webinar on ‘Intellectual Property Rights in Life Sciences’
Ferozepur, March 7, 2026: Dev Samaj College for Women, (DSCW) organized a national webinar on the topic “Intellectual Property Rights in Life Sciences: Legal Framework, Case Laws and Research Implications” on March 6, 2026. The webinar was held under the DST CURIE Grant Scheme in collaboration with the IPR Cell and Innovative Cell of the college. The programme was organized by the Postgraduate Department of Zoology.
The main objective of the webinar was to create awareness about the growing importance of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) in protecting innovations and research outcomes in the field of life sciences.
Dr. Kavita Bahmani, Assistant Professor, Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology, Hisar, participated as the keynote speaker. During her lecture, she shared detailed and insightful information about the legal framework of intellectual property rights, the significance of patents in scientific research, and the role of case laws in protecting innovations. She also explained various aspects such as patents, copyrights and trademarks, and emphasized their importance in promoting innovation, research ethics and technological advancement in the field of life sciences.
The session proved to be highly informative and beneficial for both students and faculty members.
The programme was coordinated by Dr. Mokshi, Head and Assistant Professor, Postgraduate Department of Zoology, and Dr. Ramneek Kaur, Assistant Professor, Postgraduate Department of Zoology.
College Principal Dr. Sangeeta congratulated the coordinators Dr. Mokshi and Dr. Ramneek Kaur for the successful organization of the webinar. She also highlighted that such initiatives reflect the institution’s continued commitment towards promoting research awareness, innovation, intellectual property literacy and academic excellence among students and faculty.
