Chandigarh, April 24: Senior Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Bikram Singh Majithia on Friday claimed that after the exit of seven Rajya Sabha MPs from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), a large number of party MLAs are also likely to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the coming days.
Reacting to the recent political developments, Majithia said the shift was “long overdue” and blamed AAP’s leadership for the situation.
“AAP came to power promising system change but got embroiled in corruption and scams. First, its founding members left, and now key leaders like Raghav Chadha and Sandeep Pathak have also quit along with other MPs,” he said.
He further alleged that the next wave of defections could begin from key regions like Jalandhar and Ludhiana, warning that AAP may face a serious threat to its majority in Punjab.
Majithia also targeted Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, questioning the party’s decision to nominate “outsiders” to the Rajya Sabha and claiming that the current political situation was a result of AAP’s own decisions.
