BJP Punjab appoints poll in-charge for 9 Municipal Corporations, 105 Councils ahead of Local Body polls

Chandigarh, April 28, 2026: The Bharatiya Janata Party Punjab unit has announced a major organisational reshuffle ahead of the upcoming municipal elections, appointing incharges and co-incharges for nine Municipal Corporations and incharges for 105 Municipal Councils and Nagar Panchayats across the state.
The list, released by Anil Sarin, aims to strengthen the party’s grassroots structure and streamline election preparedness.
For Municipal Corporations, key appointments include Vijay Sampla as Incharge for Barnala with Darshan Singh Nainewal as Co-In-Charge, Jiwan Gupta for Bathinda with Mona Jaiswal as Co-Incharge, and Manjit Singh Rai for Abohar with Ashok Bharti as Co-Incharge.
Senior leaders Avinash Rai Khanna and Sukhwinder Pintoo have been assigned Batala, while Manoranjan Kalia and Sushil Sharma will oversee Hoshiarpur. Kapurthala will be handled by Sushil Kumar Rinku and Anil Sachar, Moga by KD Bhandari and Jatinder Mittal, Pathankot by Rajesh Bagha and Rajesh Honey, and S.A.S. Nagar by Harminder Jassi with Pushpinder Singal as Co-Incharge.
In addition, the party has appointed incharges for all 105 Municipal Councils and Nagar Panchayats, covering towns across Punjab including Jandiala Guru, Majitha, Ajnala, Rayya, Bhadaur, Dhanaula, Tapa, Maur, Raman, Kotkapura, Sirhind, Fazilka, Jalalabad, Ferozpur, Zira, Gurdaspur, Mukerian, Nakodar, Kartarpur, Khanna, Malerkotla, Mansa, Rajpura, Nabha, Samana, Zirakpur, Dhuri, Sunam, Nawanshahr, Malout, Muktsar, and Patti, among others.
The party said the appointments are part of a broader strategy to boost coordination, strengthen booth-level management, and enhance outreach ahead of the local body polls.
BJP leaders expressed confidence that the new organisational structure will help the party expand its presence and improve performance in the upcoming elections.
