PAU-Krishi Vigyan Kendra organizes one-day training on 'Dietary Management for lifestyle diseases'

Nawanshahr (Punjab), April 28,2026: The PAU-Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Nawanshahr (Langroya, SBS Nagar), under the aegis of Punjab Agricultural University and ICAR-ATARI, Zone-1, Ludhiana, organized a one-day training programme on “Dietary Management for lifestyle diseases” at village Sauna . A total of 15 participants attended the training programme.
The training was conducted under the guidance of Dr. Pardeep Kumar, Deputy Director (Training), PAU-KVK, Nawanshahr. Mrs. Renu Bala, Demonstrator (Home Science), discussed value-addition techniques. She highlighted how sustainable practices and creative food processing can empower women and self-help groups (SHGs) to start small-scale enterprises.
As part of the hands-on component of the training, Dr. Rajinder Kaur, Assistant Professor (Home Science), elaborated on the importance of balanced diet for healthy lifestyle. She addressed the dual burden of malnutrition and lifestyle disorders, encouraging participants to leverage KVK’s resources to enhance their health and financial stability.
Dr Arti Verma, Asssistant Professor (Vegetable Science) explained the importance for the establishment of "Kitchen Gardens" in every household to ensure access to fresh, pesticide-free produce. She also provided technical insights on the balanced use of fertilizers.
The training concluded with enthusiastic participation and feedback from the attendees, who expressed keen interest in training programme. A key highlight of the day was the celebration of "Suposhan Diwas" (Nutrition Day).
This community-based event was held to reinforce healthy eating habits and foster collective awareness regarding holistic nutrition within the village.
