Chandigarh, May 1, 2026: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Friday raised a sensitive and significant political question regarding the 1984 Operation Blue Star, asking why the incident should not be viewed as a case of sacrilege.
The Chief Minister demanded a thorough investigation into the events surrounding the operation and called for legal action, including registration of FIRs against the governments in power at that time.
He stated that during the military action, no consideration appears to have been given to religious sentiments or the sanctity of the site, alleging that norms of respect and restraint were not followed.
