- KKU protests outside Cooperative Bank over farmers’ demands
  
  Ferozepur, May 11, 2026: Members of the Krantikari Kisan Union (KKU) held a protest outside the cooperative bank on Monday over issues related to farmers and agricultural loans. A large number of farmers and union activists gathered outside the bank and raised slogans against anti-farmer policies.
  
  The protesters demanded complete waiver of farmers’ loans and alleged that banks and financial institutions are putting undue pressure on farmers to recover their loans. The union leaders also objected to the recovery of alleged illegal penalties and additional charges. They demanded immediate relief in outstanding agricultural loans and a humane approach to debt-ridden farmers.
  
  The union members alleged that farmers are being harassed and threatened in the name of recovery, due to which they are facing mental and financial pressure. He said that the repeated notices and pressure from banks are creating an atmosphere of fear among small and marginal farmers, who are already struggling due to rising farm inputs and uncertain crop prices.
  
  The union leaders warned that if their demands are not met soon, the struggle will be intensified in the coming days. They appealed to the government and bank management to resolve the issues quickly by talking to the farmer representatives so that the farming community can get relief.
