Five nomination papers filed on first day for Municipal Elections in Ferozepur
Ferozepur, May 13, 2026: On Wednesday ,five nomination papers were filed on the first day for the upcoming Municipal Council and Nagar Panchayat elections scheduled to be held on May 26, 2026, under the directions issued by the State Election Commission Punjab.
Giving details, the District Election Officer, Deepshikha Sharma, Deputy Commissioner, informed that the nominations were filed by five candidates from Zira for the Municipal Council elections. She said that polling for the elections will be conducted in a total of 76 wards through 145 polling booths across the district.
She further stated that Municipal Council Ferozepur has 33 wards with 85 polling booths, Nagar Panchayat Mudki has 13 wards with 13 polling booths, Municipal Council Talwandi Bhai has 13 wards with 16 polling booths, while Municipal Council Zira has 17 wards with 31 polling booths.
The District Election Officer informed that nomination papers can be filed till May 16, 2026. Scrutiny of nomination papers will be conducted on May 18, while candidates can withdraw their nominations on May 19. Polling will take place on May 26 from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm and counting of votes will be held on May 29.
She appealed to all voters to exercise their franchise responsibly.
Providing further details, she said that a total of 1,28,457 voters will exercise their voting rights in these elections, including 61,091 male voters, 67,360 female voters and 6 other voters.
