Chandigarh, May 20, 2026 — A major political controversy erupted in Punjab after Union Minister of State for Railways Ravneet Singh Bittu made strong remarks against Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, alleging that he was acting like an “agent of Pakistan’s intelligence agency, ISI.”
Addressing the media in Chandigarh during an event, Bittu launched a sharp attack on the Punjab Chief Minister while responding to criticism made by Mann over Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s foreign visits. He accused Mann of obstructing national interests by making repeated political remarks on the Prime Minister’s overseas engagements.
Bittu argued that the Prime Minister’s foreign visits are aimed at strengthening India’s international trade, energy, and diplomatic relations. He questioned how global agreements on crucial issues like oil and gas could be achieved without such engagements.
Escalating his attack, Bittu claimed that the Chief Minister’s statements were harmful to national interest and said, “This is a very serious matter. I don’t know about others, but I clearly say this man is an ISI agent,” triggering a fresh political storm.
The remarks have intensified the ongoing political confrontation between the Aam Aadmi Party and the Bharatiya Janata Party in Punjab, where tensions have already been high over issues including governance, defections, and Centre–state relations.
Meanwhile, Bhagwant Mann has been consistently attacking the Centre over inflation, rising fuel prices, and economic policies, accusing the Union government of increasing the burden on common people. The latest comments by Bittu are expected to further escalate the political confrontation in the coming days.
