Chandigarh, July 17, 2026: Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring on Friday launched a sharp attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, alleging that the Centre had failed to deliver for Punjab during the Prime Minister's 12-year tenure and had limited its engagement with the state to election-time visits.
Reacting to Modi's visit to Punjab, Warring claimed the Prime Minister's tour was aimed at the upcoming Punjab Assembly elections and accused him of repeating old promises without any intention of fulfilling them.

"The Prime Minister has done nothing for Punjab except making periodic electoral visits. He has nothing new to offer the state," Warring said in a statement.
The Punjab Congress chief also accused the Prime Minister of attempting to polarise voters, asserting that such politics would not succeed in Punjab.
"Politics of polarisation will not work in Punjab. The state needs economic revival and agricultural reconstruction, not divisive politics," he said.
Warring alleged that the Centre had failed to fulfil key promises made to farmers, including a legal guarantee for Minimum Support Price (MSP) and farm loan waivers. He said Punjab continued to await concrete measures for industrial revival, employment generation, support for border districts and action against the drug menace.
Questioning the Centre's approach towards the state, Warring asked whether Punjab would receive its "rightful due" only if the BJP came to power in the state.
"Your government has been discriminating against Punjab since 2017. It is like telling the people that unless they vote for the BJP, they will not get what is rightfully theirs," he alleged.
The Congress leader maintained that Punjab had made immense sacrifices for the nation and deserved meaningful support rather than repeated assurances.
"Punjab doesn't need another headline after every visit. It needs decisions that people will remember long after the Prime Minister leaves," Warring said.
