Haryana to provide 820 e-rickshaws to Gaushalas
Approves Major Water and Infrastructure Projects

Chandigarh, July 20, 2026: Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Monday announced that the state government will provide 820 e-rickshaws to gaushalas across Haryana as part of its efforts to make them financially self-reliant and improve livestock care.
The announcement was made during a meeting of the High-Powered Purchase Committee held in Chandigarh. Education Minister Mahipal Dhanda, Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Vipul Goel, Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Shyam Singh Rana, Public Works and Public Health Engineering Minister Ranbir Gangwa, and Women and Child Development and Irrigation Minister Shruti Choudhry were also present.
The Chief Minister said gaushalas housing up to 1,000 cattle will receive one e-rickshaw each, while those with more than 1,000 cattle will be provided two. The committee approved the procurement of the vehicles at a cost of ₹10.25 crore.
Saini said Haryana has 770 gaushalas, including 553 with fewer than 1,000 cattle. The remaining shelters house larger cattle populations and will receive additional support under the scheme.
The committee also approved several key infrastructure projects across the state. These include the laying of sewer lines in various colonies of Kaithal city at an estimated cost of ₹12.87 crore, a project designed to meet the city’s sewerage requirements until 2042.
Approval was also granted for the upgradation of the Water Sewerage Treatment Plant and construction of an RCC tank at Khedar at a cost of ₹27.70 crore.
In another major decision, the committee approved the installation of five Ranney wells, each with a capacity of 10 MLD, in waterlogged areas along the Yamuna River near Manjhawali and Mothuka villages in Faridabad. The project, estimated at ₹164.75 crore, aims to explore new sources of potable water after quality testing.
The Chief Minister also cleared the construction of a second 1,000 MLD water treatment plant at Basai village under the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA). The project will be developed at an estimated cost of ₹149 crore to strengthen the city’s water supply infrastructure.
Officials informed the meeting that development works worth ₹380.40 crore were awarded through tenders at ₹363.82 crore, resulting in savings of approximately ₹16.58 crore for the state exchequer.
Directing officials to maintain quality standards, Saini said delays or negligence in development projects would not be tolerated and instructed departments to ensure timely completion of all approved works.
