Mayank Foundation select 39 meritorious students for 3-year scholarships to pursue higher education
Ferozepur, July 22: Continuing its mission of empowering underprivileged girls through education, the Mayank Foundation awarded Pratibha Kanya Scholarships to 39 meritorious and financially disadvantaged students at a ceremony held at Bajwa Auditorium, DCM International School, Ferozepur.
The Foundation was established in memory of Mayank Sharma, a promising student and badminton player who lost his life in a road accident in 2017. Since then, it has been actively working in the fields of education, women empowerment, road safety, environmental conservation, sports promotion, blood donation and other social welfare initiatives, transforming lives across the region.
Under the programme, each selected student will receive Rs 10,000 annually for three years, amounting to Rs 30,000 during her graduation. Over the past seven years, the initiative has enabled 52 girls to complete their graduation and move towards self-reliance, making it one of the region's most impactful educational support programmes.
Project Coordinator Vinesh Galhotra said the selection process is based on merit, financial need and transparency. Eligible students are shortlisted on the basis of their Class X and XII academic performance, followed by a written test, socio-economic assessment and household survey to ensure scholarships reach the most deserving candidates.
Addressing the gathering, chief guest Dr. Aradhana Bahri, Principal of RSD College, said investment in girls' education is the strongest foundation for a progressive society. She praised the Foundation for creating opportunities for talented girls from the border district to achieve their educational aspirations.
