Delhi Police gets Detention Powers under NSA to quell CJP protest

New Delhi, July 23, 2026: To quell protests of Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), Commissioner of Police, Delhi has been granted detention powers under National Security Act (NSA) 1980. A gazette notification has been issued in this late yesterday night.
According to a report of The Tribune, this power will remain effective for three months from July 19 to October 18. Under these powers police can detain individuals without charges from a period to 12 days to 12 months. Order has authorised Delhi Commissioner of Police Anurag Kumar to exercise these powers.
