Chandigarh, July 25, 2026: The Punjab Government has de-empanelled a private hospital in Jalandhar after an investigation allegedly uncovered fraudulent practices under the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojana.
According to the Health Department, the action follows multiple complaints and media reports alleging irregularities at the hospital. A departmental probe reportedly found evidence of misconduct, prompting the government to remove the hospital from the list of empanelled healthcare institutions. Patients covered under the scheme will no longer be able to avail treatment at the facility.
Punjab Health Minister Dr Balbir Singh said the decision was taken immediately after the allegations were substantiated during the inquiry. He asserted that the government has adopted a zero-tolerance policy towards fraud and corruption in public welfare schemes and warned of strict action against institutions found violating the rules.
The minister also urged beneficiaries to report any hospital that illegally demands money for treatment covered under the Chief Minister Health Insurance Scheme. He asked people to lodge complaints on the government helpline 104, providing the patient's details and the hospital's name, so that prompt action can be taken after verification.
Dr Balbir Singh further said that hospitals found indulging in fraudulent practices would not only be blacklisted but would also face departmental and legal proceedings. He reiterated that the government's priority is to ensure transparent and free healthcare services for eligible beneficiaries, adding that any malpractice under the scheme would be dealt with firmly.
