Hockey India implements Saffron Jerseys for players, critics fume

New Delhi, July 30, 2026: Hockey India has implemented Saffron Jerseys for players of team India. Players will wear these new Jerseys in next month's FIH World Cup in the Netherlands and Belgium.
Unveiling the new jersey on its social media pages, Hockey India has said the design and colour of the jersey is meant to "tell a story" and carry "India's pride" and was finalised after consultations with players and support staff. HI said saffron symbolises courage, sacrifice and victory.
Meanwhile former Men Hockey Captain and presently Congress MLA Pargat Singh condemned this change.
