Sri Fatehgarh Sahib (Punjab), July 31, 2026: Punjab Congress in-charge and former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel received an enthusiastic welcome during his visit to Fatehgarh Sahib on Thursday, with a party meeting organised under the leadership of former MLA Kuljit Singh Nagra drawing thousands of Congress workers from across the district.
The programme, held as part of the ‘Mera Booth Sabse Mazboot’ campaign, witnessed the participation of district-level leaders, office-bearers, block, mandal and booth presidents. The large gathering gave the meeting the appearance of a major political rally.
Addressing party workers, Baghel said the Congress drew its strength from its grassroots organisation and stressed the importance of strengthening the party at the booth level.
“The real strength of the Congress lies in its booth-level workers. If every booth is strong, the party’s victory becomes certain,” he said, urging workers to reach out to people and spread awareness about the party’s policies.
Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring claimed that people in the state were disappointed with the performance of the present government and were looking towards the Congress for an alternative.
Former MLA Kuljit Singh Nagra thanked party workers for their participation and said Fatehgarh Sahib had traditionally remained a strong base for the Congress. He said the large turnout reflected the enthusiasm among party workers and expressed confidence about the party’s prospects in the upcoming elections.
