Allegations against Dr. Gurpreet Kaur: NHRC issue notice to Chief Secretary and DGP, seeks action taken report in two weeks

New Delhi/Chandigarh, August 22, 2026: National Human Right Commission (NHRC) has issued a notice to Chief Secretary and DGP Punjab and sought action taken report in the matter of allegations levelled by Justice (Retd.) Ranjit Singh against Dr. Gurpreet Kaur wife of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann for allegedly demanding Rs. 5 crore in a rape case.
In the notice, NHRC said that it has taken cognizance of the matter in which such allegations have been levelled and it has sought Action Taken Report (ATR) from both the officer within two weeks in the matter. It is worth mentioning here that Justice (Retd.) Ranjit Singh had alleged that Dr. Gurpreet Kaur demanded a bribe of Rs. 5 crore to hush up a rape case against an accused.
