Chandigarh Blast Plot Case: Three Punjab youths sent to police remand till Aug 29

Chandigarh, August 24, 2026: Three youths from Punjab arrested by Chandigarh Police with suspected explosive material were produced before a court on Monday and sent to police remand till August 29.
The accused have been identified as Lovepreet Singh (19) of Tarn Taran, Jasanpreet Singh (21) of Tarn Taran and Prabhpreet Singh (19) of Amritsar.
The three were arrested by Chandigarh Police on Sunday evening from the area behind the Inter-State Bus Terminus in Sector 43. Police had allegedly recovered a suspected IED from a tiffin box, five kg of gelatin sticks, detonators, a remote-control device, a pistol, a magazine and five live cartridges from their possession.
According to police sources, the preliminary investigation has indicated that the accused were allegedly in contact with the banned terrorist organisation Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) and were purportedly acting on the instructions of a foreign-based handler identified as Satnam Singh alias Satta Naushera.
The police are now questioning the accused to establish the alleged network, the source of the explosive material and the intended target or purpose of the suspected IED.
Further investigation is underway.
